Welcome from Co-op Academy New Islington

Dear Parents and Carers,

Firstly, Eid Mubarak to all of our staff and families who are celebrating today and over the weekend.

Many of you may have noticed some new additions to our school building over the last week. Mrs Mirazi has been working hard on installing some beautiful new plant walls with the help of some of our year 6 children.

On Thursday, our classes took part in a Chinese Calligraphy Workshop. The children were very enthusiastic about this and produced beautiful work. I know many members of staff also enjoyed this immensely too!

Thank you to the parents who have taken part in the Edurio Parent Survey. This feedback really supports us in how we can work with our families to improve as a school.

Wishing you a lovely weekend, fingers crossed the sunshine stays with us for a while longer.

What a Busy Week!

In Science this week, Year 5 tested different methods that could be used to clean canal water.

As oil is lighter than water, it floated at the top, therefore the children attempted to remove the oil using an absorbent boom (as seen in the pictures).

As part of our National Education Nature Park project, the school has received £5,000.00 from the RHS to make our school environment a greener place and enhance biodiversity in the city.

Our living green walls system and plants have now been supplied by a local company called Wonderwall and will be planted by the children over the next two weeks.

Year 6 children came up with the idea for the living walls during our National Education Nature Park programme, that had children from all year groups thinking about how we can make our school more inviting to pollinators.

We welcomed in Sophia Gui from the Chinese Music Classroom at Chetham's School of Music. She very kindly ran Chinese calligraphy sessions in school on Thursday.

The children enjoyed learning about the language and culture as well as showing their creative skills.
