Welcome from Co-op Academy New Islington

Dear Parents and Carers,

The sun has been shining this week at New Islington and there has been so much progress being made across school. As the weather is improving, please ensure your child comes to school with a sun hat. If they bring sun cream, they will need to be able to apply it themselves.

We would all also like to congratulate Mr Jackson on the birth of his child and wish him and his family the best in their exciting next chapter.

We will soon be sharing our end-of-year events calendar. Please keep an eye out for emails on this. Please don't forget that this week we will be closed for bank holiday Monday and will be open again on Tuesday 5th May!

As always, thank you for your continued support,

Mr Berry

What a Busy Week!

2MM have been reading the book Rosie Revere, Engineer by Andrea Beaty. The book inspired them to be engineers and they worked in teams to build bridges. They also did role play as tourists and guides, asking and answering questions about the engine room, walkway and towers.

Well done on the great teamwork!

On Monday, KS2 had a careers talk in assembly from one of our parents who is a software engineer.

She told us all about her role, her journey to her career and her skills. The children asked and answered many questions during the assembly.

Thank you very much for delivering the assembly and donating some new books for our library!

This week, year 3 carried out an experiment in science looking at the permeability of different rocks. The children had to work in teams to complete the task.

They tested sandstone, chalk, granite, marble, coral, slate, basalt, gabbro and gneiss.

Dojo points were rewarded for teams showing great listening skills and teamwork.
