Welcome from Co-op Academy New Islington

Dear Parents and Carers,

It has been another busy week at New Islington! As well as our Year 4 and 6 pupils taking part in some careers talks, our school has been visited by some reviewers this week. We are delighted with the amazing feedback we have received from parents and pupils.

My personal favourite was a quote from one year 6 pupil that "when something is wrong the teachers at New Islington choose consideration every time".

Just a reminder for us of what a special place New Islington is.

As always, thank you for your continued support,

Mr Berry

Wraparound Reminder

We would like to remind you that all sessions for breakfast and after school club need to be booked on Arbor in advance.

Breakfast club must be booked by 5pm the night before.

After school club must be booked by 12.00 midday on the day.

We are not always able to accommodate late bookings due to the high numbers of children attending.

What a Busy Week!

Yorkshire bank came to speak to year 6 on Thursday. They discussed budgeting for a school party. Children were asked to consider which items were 'wanted' and which items were 'needed'. They then needed to discuss which costs were fixed and which were variable. Once they discussed these items, they planned a party to a set budget and size.

Year 2 really enjoyed listening to the author Wendy Meddour via a zoom session. The children loved her story called 'Lubna and the Pebble'. Following this, they took part in a drawing task to show their favourite toys.

Some of our Year 6 children went to Angel Square to compete against the other primary schools in the Trust in our annual Maths Olympics. Whilst they did not win, they performed with real determination. We even had staff from other schools complimenting them on how well behaved they were, as well as how well they worked as a team to solve the maths problems.
