Welcome from Co-op Academy New Islington

Dear Parents/Carers,

As we approach the final few weeks of the academic year we are delighted to be able to share with you your children's class allocations and teachers for September. Please keep an eye out for communications on this next week.

I would also like to announce that, with regret, we will be saying goodbye to Miss Carter and Mrs Harris at the end of the academic year. We would like to thank them for their many years of fantastic service to the academy.

In addition, I would like to welcome Mrs Khan and Mr Fidgeon to our teaching staff as full-time class teachers. Both these staff members have been with us as teachers this year and we are delighted to welcome them to the team on a permanent basis.

The next few weeks are jam-packed full of events, performances and sports days, so please check all communications from school.

As always, thank you for your continued support.

Mr Berry

Maths Champions

Last week, a group of our Year 5's and 6's went to Co-op Connell College to take part in a Maths challenge.

The children had a fantastic time and had to answer a range of challenges under time constraints. One of our groups took away first prize!

Well done to everyone who took part.

Year 6 News

The Year 6's have been working really hard since they returned from their residential trip.

This week, we have started rehearsals for "The Lion King". It's looking brilliant so far and we have a year group of enthusiastic actors!

The performances will take place on Tuesday 15th July at 2.00pm and Thursday 17th July at 6.00pm.

Please note, these performances are for the families of Year 6 children only. The rest of the school will be seeing the performance during school time.

Letters have been sent out with further details, but please speak with a member of the Year 6 team if you need any further information,

The Year 6 Leavers assembly will be on Friday 18th July at 9.30am.

A Rare Sighting in Forest School

Children spotted this very rare pink grass hopper in our Forest School site on Friday afternoon. With a 1% chance, pink grass hoppers are extremely rare to find. Our young wildlife investigators are not just very lucky, but are definitely doing a fantastic job on their mission of taking stock of wildlife in our Forest School site.

Wraparound Stars of the Week

Our stars of the week are Nimi and Nichole.

Well done!

Summer Fair

We are looking for volunteers to help run stalls and set up and pack away for the Summer Fair on 11th July.

Please contact Miss O'Mahony or sign on the sheet on the noticeboard at the front of school.
