The New Islington News – Edition 6

Ways of Being

The following children have been celebrated in our assemblies for demonstrating an understanding of our Ways of Being:

Show that you care

Do what matters most

Be yourself, always

Succeed together

Congratulations to: Logan and Sofia, Winter, Austin and Luca, Audvik and Logan. Yathra, Archie, Vivaan and Hannah, Luna, Titilayo, Yohoni and all of Year 4, Emma, Deen and Famke and Liyana.

Music of the week

Continuing the wellbeing focus, this week we have all listened to and joined in with ‘Stand by Me’ by Ben E. King.

Parent Governor Election

Thanks to the parents who voted in this parent Governor election. A total of 54 parents returned the voting slip before the deadline. The two parents who have been voted onto the Academy Governing Council are Frances Cameron and Gloria Lilley. Congratulations to both, and my thanks to Rick Turner and to Dr El Sayed Salem for their willingness to contribute to the school’s success.

Wraparound Bookings

For parents who use our Wraparound Club, please read the letter that has been sent out. We don’t want to cap our numbers, but will have to do so if parents fail to pre-book and pre-pay.

Elfridges

This event was a huge success last year (thanks to one of our parents, Zoe Mills). It is a great way to raise money for our Library Project, as well as being great fun for the children.

Parents buy a ticket for £5 and then the children can choose a present, and wrap it up, so that mums and dads and grandparents can have a surprise gift!

Buy your tickets via the school gateway – there is no limit on the number of tickets you can buy, but the closing date is 1st December.

If you want to buy more than one ticket, make separate individual payments. Tickets are going fast – buy yours before 1st December!

Road safety Awareness

As part of the Road Safety Awareness campaign, we have arranged for a company called Box Clever to come into school to present a drama show for our Year 5 & 6 pupils focussing on road safety. This show will be in the afternoon of Friday 18th November. Additionally, Rob, from Revolution MCR will return to New Islington to provide free bike maintenance opportunities for our families.

Bring your bikes along from 3pm on Friday 18th November.

Careers Related Learning

Anyone work in the financial sector or work with money? Do you work with foreign currency, in a bank, in a shop, in pensions, insurance? Do you know about stocks and shares?

Are you willing to come in for 30 minutes to talk to our pupils about your job?
