We are all devastated by the news of the death of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II. Born on 21st April 1926, and ascending to the throne just after the Second World War, Queen Elizabeth II lived a life of service to her country. The longest-ever reigning monarch, Queen Elizabeth II showed strength, dignity and grace for 70 years. The qualities she chose to live her life by are ones that we can all admire and aspire to.

Her life of service stretched beyond most of our living memories; she is all so many of us have ever known. The passing of such a famous lady – whose face and name is known across our globe – will take time for the nation, the world, to process.

In line with guidance, we will respect this period of national mourning whilst the Crown passes on to King Charles III, to whom we say, in line with tradition “God save the king”

    Mrs Tabitha Smith, Head Teacher

As our last week of school approaches, here are notices and activities to look out for:

    Heatwave

We are preparing for a heatwave, with temperatures set to soar on Monday and Tuesday. Please ensure that your child comes to school with a full water bottle. Sun cream should be applied at home – our staff are not allowed to apply sun cream. A named sun hat or cap would be useful too. We will shorten the amount of time your child is outside, and keep classrooms as cool as we possibly can.

Clubs: There are no teacher run clubs this week.

    Musicathon

With temperatures very high on Monday and Tuesday, we have made the decision to change the Musicathon. Our priority is to keep our pupils safe, whilst keeping as many activities going as possible.

The new plan is this – we will turn the ‘dress rehearsal’ into the ‘final production’. On Monday morning, at 9:20 parents are welcome to join us – but please remember that this is the first time the children have come together as a whole school to sing and make music!

    Year 6 disco

All our Year 6 pupils are invited to a disco on Tuesday 19th at 6:30pm to 7:30pm. Parents are welcome to stay and chat.

    Year 6 leavers’ assembly

Our Year 6 families are invited to the Leavers’ assembly at 9:15 on Friday 22nd July.

    Toy day

Children are welcome to bring a toy to play with during the morning of Friday 22nd. Nothing too precious and nothing electronic.

Term finishes for all pupils at 1pm on Friday 22nd July. There is no Wraparound club and we appreciate a prompt pick up

    Advance notice

School starts back on Monday 5th September at 8:50.
Meet the Teacher sessions on Thursday 8th September at 3pm and 4:30pm.

An advance date for your diary

We will be holding two ‘Meet the Teacher’ sessions on Thursday 8th September.
This will be a chance for you to come into the classroom, to sit alongside your children, and for the teacher to run through organisational and academic expectations with you.
We appreciate that not everyone will be able to attend in person, and so one session will be run on Google Meet, as well as the slides being sent out to all parents after the event.
The sessions will be held at 3pm in person, and then at 4:30 via Google meet.

    Key Dates

Monday 18th July No teacher run clubs this week.

Monday 18th July Musicathon – parents are welcome to join us at 2pm for a cheerful event of singing and music making outside! Clarifying the date and time
