Our Year 6 pupils showed resilience, courage, teamwork and cooperation whilst away on their Residential. We went to the Robinwood Activity Centre near Wrexham for three days of activities. The children were brilliantly behaved, listened carefully and everyone tried their very best!
We participated in a really wide range of activities, from the Giant Swing to the Piranha Pool. Each activity aimed to develop personal qualities such as confidence, responsibility, patience, problem-solving, communication, encouragement, resilience and respect.

Mental health and well-being workshops for parents: We are offering parents two more opportunities to attend a workshop to understand the way our and our children's minds work. This was held last year and those parents who attended found it both fascinating and very beneficial.
The body and mind represent two of our greatest assets. A healthy lifestyle can optimise the body; but how do you optimise your mind? Are you managing yourself around people and situations in the way that you want to? Why do we sometimes get overwhelmed with emotions, or have thoughts, feelings or do things that we later regret?
This session uses neuroscience and The Chimp Model, our powerful mind management model, to offer explanations for these questions and to help you develop personal insights and practical approaches to optimise the performance of your mind.
This session will help you to:
Session Structure:
This session is highly practical and engaging. Participants are introduced to relatable neuroscience through The Chimp Model with each individual exploring and identifying their unique Chimp, Human and what they have stored in their Computers. We explore how this insight impacts our professional and personal lives, in particular around managing emotions. Participants will also learn skills and techniques for managing their unique Chimp – which can have a huge impact on happiness, confidence and success.
By the end of this session, participants will know how to:
The sessions will run from 3:40 to 4:40 on Friday 6th October and repeated on Friday 10th November. It's a better session without children attending.

We held an amazing Careers Fair here at New Islington.

Our Year 5 pupils participated in an enjoyable workshop at Manchester’s Central Library. What a beautiful building to learn about Shakespeare and his plays.
The workshop was brought to life through music and acting, led by a ‘real life’ actor!
We were also shown an incredibly precious and valuable first edition printed book of his plays, dating from 1632!
Our Hallé Music and Heritage workshop was a fantastic experience. We learned a lot about famous Sir Charles Hallé, the founder of the orchestra.
We looked at original music notation and concert programmes from the Hallé archive, as they were used by the orchestra back in the early 1900’s.
We got to know about famous conductors who worked with the Hallé orchestra over the last century.
And we had our own go, being a conductor in a fun team game of musical statues along with another original recording of a Hallé Orchestra performance.
What a lovely way to learn about local music history!
Our choir and musicians played so beautifully at the Co-op AGM. The pupils performed with confidence and charisma in front of a large audience. Very proud of them all!
