Mr Berry's Message

Dear Parents/Carers,

I would like to start my message with a huge congratulations to our year 6 pupils for completing their SATs this week. We have all been blown away by the way every single one of the children applied themselves this week. They should all be incredibly proud of themselves!

Following on from recent communications from the council regarding the building work taking place on the former retail site next door, we would like to reassure the community that the school is listening to concerns around this and relaying them to the council promptly. Mitigations are being put in place to address any concerns and we are confident that the work will have a minimal impact on the experience of children at New Islington.

As always, thank you for your continued support.

Bunzl Volunteers clean up in the Forest

We had 6 volunteers in for a day to help with maintenance, clearing out and cleaning up our entire Forest School site. A huge thank you to Bunzl, the organiser who sent in the helpers and Natasha Devoe for making our Forest School a cleaner, safer and more spacious place to play and learn for our children. It looks fantastic and a days hard work has definitely paid off!

Mrs William's Recommended Book of the Week

Zoo by Anthony Browne

I think one of the things that makes Anthony Borwne’s books special are the illustrations and this one does not fail to deliver. From Dad’s laughing face to the haunting illustration of the Orangutan staring at the wall in the zoo.

The family have a trip to the zoo and soon it becomes apparent that the animals are really unhappy. This book is filled with opportunities to talk about feelings and the ethics around animals in captivity.

This is a book to share from age 5 and above. Older children will be able to explore a lot of the themes in the book also.

Online Safety

Please read this important information to help keep your children safe while playing Minecraft.
