Welcome from Co-op Academy New Islington

Dear Parents/Carers,

I would like to say thank you to all the members of our community who gave up their time to attend one of our three Headteacher forums this week. The conversations and feedback I have been able to take away has been invaluable.

It has also been lovely to see all the wonderful work going on in lessons and hearing from the children about how excited they are to earn points towards our house competition. It's proving to be a tight race so far!

As always, thank you for your continued support,

Mr Berry

We are a Nut Free School

We have children in this school with a severe nut allergy. Please help us to keep them safe by making sure that any food items brought into school do not contain any type of nut.

Please be aware this includes Nutella and other chocolate spreads that contain hazelnuts.

Well done everyone for earning lots of house points. These totals are very close so every point makes a difference.

Look how busy we have been!

Year 1 went into Forest School this week and had a fantastic time. We went on a nature hunt and had to find lots of different items. We also picked the seeds from last year's sunflowers so that they can be dried and planted again next year!

Year 4 have been looking at classification keys in science. We used our knowledge of vertebrates and invertebrates to classify a variety of invertebrates. The children were excited not to complete work in their books and instead complete their work on the tables!

Great scientific work Year 4.

Mrs Williams Recommends

Malamander by Thomas Taylor

Malamander is the first in a series of 5 books which follow twelve-year-old Herbert Lemon and Violet Parma who live in the frequently foggy seaside town of Eerie-on-Sea.

Left in the hotel as a baby after her parents mysteriously disappeared, Violet is determined to find out what happened to them and wants Herbert’s help. Following the clues quickly leads Herbert into far more danger than he’d like, opening up a whole lot of questions about the town’s extremely eclectic mix of residents and the secrets they’re hiding.

This is a supernatural and fun, mystery-filled adventure with lots of spine-tingling twists and turns. It’s full of lots of unusual characters and quirky places. I really enjoyed reading this series.

Perfect for ages 9 and above
