Welcome from Co-op Academy New Islington

Dear Parents/Carers,

Firstly, I would like to congratulate all of our year 6 pupils who have been appointed to leadership roles this week. They have already made a huge difference around our school!

September was a great start to the school year and there is lots going on in October as well, including concerts, the Halloween Disco and more of our parent coffee mornings covering a range of aspects of school life.

We have loved welcoming parents and carers to these events and have been delighted with the amount of our community attending.

As always, thank you for your continued support,

Mr Berry

School Uniform

At Co-op Academy New Islington, we believe that a school uniform plays a vital role in promoting a sense of belonging, pride, and equality amongst our pupils. It also helps to prepare children for the expectations of future workplaces.

Our school uniform consists of:

  • Grey branded sweatshirt/cardigan or plain grey sweatshirt/ cardigan, white polo shirt, grey trousers/ knee length skirt, white socks or black socks, black school shoes (no trainers), black/grey hijab.

  • PE kit: plain white t-shirt/ long sleeve t-shirt, black shorts/tracksuit bottoms/ leggings, trainers.

We ask that all pupils come to school in full, correct uniform every day. Please ensure all items are clearly labelled with your child's name. If you have any difficulties in providing the uniform, please speak to the school office.

After School Club

Do you have any unwanted games, toys, craft materials or puzzles that After School club could use?

We would welcome all donations, but please no soft toys.

Thank you

Zones of Regulation Coffee Morning

Thank you to everybody who came to our Zones of Regulation coffee morning last Friday! It was an informative session led by our speech and language therapist, Bhavini, and we hope you found it useful!

Please see the attached handout if you were unable to attend. Zones of Regulation

Today's Early Years coffee morning was great too. It was lovely to chat about how your children have settled into school. The resources are being emailed to you.

What a Busy Week!

Year 1 have been learning all about Manchester and this week we have been looking at how people travel around to get to different places. We went on a walk around school to visit some very grown up in Year 6 children so we could interview them on how they get to school. We were amazed at how many different ways they arrived - buses, trams, trains, bikes and scooters were just some of our findings!

In Year 2's art lesson, the children have been learning about primary and secondary colours. The lesson was full of enthusiasm, joy, laughter and pride, it was a wonderful experience for everyone.

In computing, Year 2 practised skills by drawing their own self-portraits. They took great pride in their work.

Mrs Williams Recommends

Lost and Found by Olive Jeffers

This was a firm favourite in my house when my son was younger. In fact, Oliver Jeffers books were a regular bedtime read.

Lost and Found is a charming book about friendship and loneliness. It's the story of a sad, lonely penguin who appears at the door of a young boy. The boy decided he must be lost. Together they set off to find his home only to discover that sometimes what you're looking for is right in front of you all along.

Perfect for sharing with ages 3-5
