Welcome from Co-op Academy New Islington

Dear Parents/Carers,

As the winter weather has drawn in this week, we would like to ask that all children come to school with warm clothes to allow them to enjoy their break times without getting too cold!

With winter weather also comes a packed half-term, and we are so excited for the variety of events planned across the next four weeks, including performances, fairs and celebrations.

As always, thank you for your continued support,

Mr Berry

Parents Evenings

Parents Evening appointments are now able to be booked on Arbor, these can be found under Guardian Consultations.

Reception, Y2, Y3, Y4, Y5 and Y6 will be Wednesday 26th and Thursday 27th November.

Y1 will be Tuesday 25th November and Thursday 4th December.

You will be able to book a 10 minute slot to meet with the teacher to discuss their progress.

Snacks in school

A friendly reminder that we are a nut free school for the safety of a number of children with severe nut allergies in school. Please check any labels carefully and if a child brings in a snack, we cannot always be sure of it's contents unless in it's original wrapper with ingredients listed. If we are in doubt, we will keep the snack aside for you to collect at the end of the day.

We encourage and ask for your support in packing healthy snacks such as fruit, vegetables, cheese or whole grain crackers to keep those energy levels up for learning!

We provide fruit for a snack for children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2

Thank you for your support in this matter

What a Busy Week!

Year 6 have been reading The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman. They have been looking at the setting of the story and used the text to visualise what they think it might look like.

Year 6 had a visit from Plant NOMA on Tuesday during their forest school sessions.

6EB had the chance to plant some crocus bulbs for a splash of colour in the spring and early pollinator food for our roof garden during their session. They displayed excellent teamwork skills while planting.

6LB had a career talk from our visitors. They will be back again in December for 6LB to plant and for 6EB to have a careers talk.

Well done Year 6!

Well done to the team on Wednesday at their latest tournament. The girls won their first 2 games and scored some amazing goals!

“If you work together, you’ll achieve anything.”

“We all aimed high and showed leadership skills.”

In our recent DT lesson, our Year 5 children interviewed the Year 2 children to gain information about what toys they would find appealing, as the Year 5s prepare to create puppet theatres suited to the younger audience.

We will share pictures of their finished products at the end of term!

Mrs Williams Recommends

The Wild Robot by Peter Brown

The Wild Robot is the perfect choice if you are looking for a heart warming and thought-provoking  read.

The story follows a curious robot called Roz as she opens her eyes to find herself stranded on a wild and remote island. Roz must learn to survive and earn the trust of the island's animals. At first, they are terrified of Ros but things begin to change when she adopts a newly hatched gosling and learns to become a wonderful mother and friend.

This is a delightful book from children in year 3 and up
