Welcome from Co-op Academy New Islington

Dear Parents/Carers,

To start my message this week, I would like to offer HUGE congratulations to Miss O'Mahony, who was awarded the Co-op Academies Trust "Show You Care" recognition award this week. This is a fantastic achievement considering that our Trust has thousands of dedicated professionals working hard to improve the lives of children across the North West. It is very well deserved. Well done Miss O'Mahony!

I would also like to thank all the parents who came to see our Rock Steady concert and an even bigger well done to the young rock stars who performed!

I would like to finish with a quote we recently received from a member of the public which we feel perfectly captures the feeling around the children who attend our school and represents the amazing behaviour that we see all the time (with a special shout out to our Deputy Head girl Amelia!):

"Last Thursday my husband and I travelled to London by train. We were surrounded by pupils from your school. I am a retired teacher with many years of teaching in primary schools and feel I must write to congratulate you on their behaviour. They are a credit to your school.

As you no doubt know our journey was severely delayed by a broken down train on the track ahead but the standard of their behaviour never slipped. In fact I would go so far as to say they entertained us and added to our journey. We were sat opposite your deputy head girl who will obviously go far!
On top of all that they were all very carefully marshalled by the enthusiastic teacher in charge."

As always, thank you for your continued support,

Mr Berry

We warmly welcome all students, families, and staff to join us for a fun-filled afternoon to celebrate the season.

A quick reminder that the exciting stalls and games will operate using tokens. These tokens are priced at £1 each and will be available for purchase before and after school at the front of the school building.

Please remember that this is a cash-only purchase. We can't wait to see you there for some festive fun!

We need your baking brilliance for the Winter Fair! To make our cake stall a huge success, we are kindly asking for donations of baked goods. We especially welcome individual cakes, such as cupcakes, brownies, or small slices, as these are easy to sell.

IMPORTANT FOOD SAFETY NOTE: Due to allergy concerns, we must ask that every donated item comes with a full, clear list of all ingredients used. Please attach this list securely to your donation. Cakes should be brought to the school on the morning of Friday, December 12th. Thank you so much for your generosity—your bakes will help us raise lots of money!

What a Busy Week!

Fantastic News! During their Forest School sessions, year 6 have been working on a programme by the RHS, called National Education Nature Park.

Children have developed ideas about how to improve our schools' grey and empty outdoor areas into a greener and better space for wildlife.

With the help of garden experts, volunteers and Mrs Mirazi, we applied for £5,000 to make a positive change. The application has been approved by the RHS and the funding will be put to good use, by installing 4 mini-panels of living green walls on the outside of our school building with our children in Spring 2026.

Year 1 have been looking at Christmas traditions around the World. In Poland, St. Nicholas Day (Mikołajki) is celebrated on December 6th.

The tradition is where well-behaved children find small gifts (sweets, fruits, toys) in their clean shoes or under pillows. Year 1 were very lucky as St Nicholas stopped by and left us a little sweet treat in our shoes. We were very excited!

We welcomed families into school on Thursday to see the Rocksteady performance. The children from all year groups, who are in the Rocksteady club, performed a range of songs to their audience, showing their skills at singing, bass, guitar, keyboards and drums. They will perform again next Thursday to the rest of the children in school.
