Welcome from Co-op Academy New Islington

Dear Parents/Carers,

This week our teachers have been having a big push on children's presentation in books and it has been wonderful to welcome so many of them to my office to receive Headteacher's Awards.

We are very lucky to be able to teach such a talented and hard working community of children!

As always, thank you for your continued support,

Mr Berry

Our second STEM Club has been very successful this week, solving the mystery of "Who made Mr Fidgeon Unconscious?".

We focused on looking at forensic science this week and how our fingerprints are all unique to us and how they can be used to help solve crimes.

Using baby powder and a brush, we dusted for our fingerprints to find out which one had matched the culprit... spoiler alert, it was Mr Yip!

We are hoping to run more courses of the STEM club in the future and will send out details when confirmed.

Attendance Matters

Term time absences

We understand that there may be times when you need to take your child out of school, such as a family event, bereavement or holiday. In all cases, we ask that you fill in an absence request form which is available from the school office, or can be emailed to you upon request. We may ask for evidence to support your request including flight details or prof of appointment.

More details on absences and fines can be found in our attendance policy Policies

Mrs Williams Recommends

Inside the Villains by Clotilde Perrin

I just love this oversized and interactive picture book and the whole idea of it – it is such great fun!

This large fold-out book is like no other and allows children to explore and discover the villainous tricks of three famous fairytale villains – an ogre, a witch and a wolf. The villains have lift up flaps to find out what's behind their disguises and who was the victim of their last meal. You can also read all about their personalities on their personality cards.

This book is lovely to share with ages 5-7 but older children will love it too!

Co-op Academy New Islington
Last week, Miss Ballentine and Mrs Mirazi took 12 children from Year 5 and Year 6 as they represented New Islington at a Co-op Primaries Dodgeball Tournament at Co-op Academy Walkden. The children succeeded together against some tough competition. Out of the 6 teams, we got a first and third place! Well done to the children, who fantastically represented our school (and continued our winning streak!)
