Welcome from Co-op Academy New Islington

Mrs Williams' Message

We have had a fantastic first week of summer 2 here at New Islington. It has been a wonderful calm start to the final half-term of this academic year.

Year 6 have gone on in their residential. They have been taking part in lots of outdoor activities and have hopefully dodged the rain. I am sure we will have lots of very tired children and staff ready for the weekend. The year 6 children who remained in school have been busy working on projects, assisting the teachers and have had lots of PE activities in the afternoons.

Year 4 have been timetable rockstars in preparation for their multiplication check next week.

Please remember it's our 'Big Lunch' next week. See the information that has been shared.

Finally Eid Mubarak to all of our families celebrating across the weekend.

Mrs Williams Recommends

Amelia Fang and the Barbaric Ball.

By Laura Ellen Anderson

This is the first in a great series of wonderfully written and illustrated chapter books.

Amelia Fang is a feisty ten-year-old vampire who lives in Nocturnia, a land of darkness, ghosts and ghouls and where the sparkly magic of fairies and unicorns fills them with terror. She would much rather hang out with her pet pumpkin Squashy and her friends Florence, a rare breed of Yeti and Grimaldi the reaper, than dance at her parents' annual Barbaric Ball.

Then the King's spoilt son Tangine captures Squashy, Amelia and her friends must escape the party to plan a daring rescue!

In their race against time, they begin to realise things in Nocturnia may not be quite what they seem…

For ages 7 and above
