Welcome from Co-op Academy New Islington

It's been assessment week this week at New Islington. The children have been working very hard on their Maths and English tests. Year 1 and year 4 have been particularly busy with the Multiplication checks and phonics screening checks. We have all been so proud of all our children this week and how hard they have worked to show off how much they have learnt across this school year.

It was wonderful to speak to all of the year 6 children following the residential last week and remember about how much they enjoyed their time away. The staff have also shared what a brilliant time they all had and  how the children threw themselves into every activity with enthusiasm.

In further exciting news we have secured a bid to build a library in school.
At the start of the day on Monday we will have the possible designs available for you to see and for you to provide us with any feedback. We are extremely excited about this and are sure that this will be a great addition to New Islington and will continue to help our children develop a love of reading.

As always, thank you for your continued support.

Wednesday 18th June is National Thank a Teacher Day.

We are very proud of all the hard work all our staff do every day.

We celebrate Thank a Teacher Day to recognise the vital role teachers play in shaping lives, inspiring learning, and supporting students through every challenge. It’s a moment to show appreciation for their hard work, dedication, and lasting impact on our communities.

Triathlon

On Wednesday, 16 children from Year 5 & 6 competed in a mini Triathlon hosted by Olympic and World champions, the Brownlee brothers. The children took part in a 50m swim, 600m bike and 300m run. Everybody showed great resilience and sportsmanship, and came away with a goodie bag which included a medal and t-shirt. Well done everyone!

Manchester Triathlon Club are holding a Junior Triathlon in August. For further details click here

MMU Sustainability Festival

Children from Years 3 and 5 went to Manchester Metropolitan University to present our school roof garden project as part of the Sustainability Festival.

The children delivered a fantastic presentation to a packed auditorium and amazed the crowd. In the afternoon, they enjoyed taking part in exciting workshops, experimenting with plants, food, fabric and exploring stalls from community projects that promote healthier growing and sustainable living.
