Welcome from Co-op Academy New Islington

Dear Parents/Carers,

The sun is shining and it's a busy time at New Islington. We have been delighted by the academic outcomes across the school and can't wait to share these with parents. Our young marketeers have been doing a fantastic job of selling our forest school produce to the public and we have been welcoming next year's intake of Early Years families into our community.

The next few weeks are just as busy with end-of-year reports, performances and events, so please keep checking school communications as there is so much to take part in!

As always, thank you for your continued support.

Kind Regards,

Mr Berry

Wraparound News

Wraparound club recently held a Penalty Shootout competition.

Congratulations to Rome and David who were the winners. The runners up were Stephanos and Thales.

Well done everyone!

Online Safety

This guide will help you set up parental controls and adjust privacy settings to provide your child with a safer online environment.  Parental controls can help to protect your child from seeing something that they shouldn’t — although it is important to emphasise that no system is effective all of the time, so it is important to engage with your child and talk to them about their online life regularly.

Lost Property

We have had reports from parents of many missing uniform items. Please can you check your child's uniform to see if any items have someone else's name on them as they may have gone home with your child by accident.

Please make sure you clearly label all items of clothing as it does make it easier to return them to the right child.

Sports Day

Remember Sports Day for the reception classes, Year 1 and Year 2 is on Wednesday 9th July at 1.15.

Y3,Y4, Y5 & Y6 have their Sports Day on Wednesday 16th July at 1.15.

Staff will only let the children go home from their classrooms. This is to prevent anyone getting lost or leaving without their adult. Please allow the time for the children to be dismissed by their teacher.

Y5 Market Sale

Year 5 children had their final event of their garden project - a market sale in the city centre, proudly selling their own school-grown produce to the public. Children have received gardening workshops from UK-based charity School Food Matters over the last 3 months, growing potatoes, onions and tomatoes with Jannine McMahon. The harvest was very exciting and the sale was extremely successful.

Our children raised a proud £113 for the Fare Share charity by selling their hand-grown potatoes, onions, tomatoes, herbs and wildflowers. Lord Mayor Carmine Grimshaw was very impressed by our children's marketing skills and fantastic posters. Celebrity Cloud Gardener Jason Williams, who donated a farm garden to our academy last year, also came to buy from our young marketeers. He was moved to tears by the children's enthusiasm and amazing contribution to this event. Our children have done extremely well, have learned so much and all came back to school with a spring in their step. What an amazing outcome!
