Welcome from Co-op Academy New Islington   

Dear Parents/Carers,

We are delighted to have welcomed the children back this week and hope everyone in the community enjoyed the summer! Our staff and children are raring to go and we have had a lovely first week back at school, welcoming our new cohort of Reception children. We can't wait to share all the exciting news and developments with you throughout the new academic year.

Beegu by Alexi Deacon

Beegu is such a charming picture book and definitely stole my heart a little the first time I read it. 

This is the story of Beegu  who is from another world and somehow gets lost on Earth when his spacecraft is stranded. Lonely and confused, she wanders off to a nearby city to find some friends. But the only friendly people she comes across are the children, while the big Earth creatures just don’t seem to understand.

This is a heart-warming and satisfying tale that is certain to provide comfort to young children especially around times when they might be facing things that are unfamiliar to them. 

Perfect to share with ages 4 and above and age 6 as an independent read.

PE Days

Please remember you can wear your PE kit to school on your PE days.

Reception- Thursday

Year 1- Monday and Friday

Year 2- Tuesday and Wednesday

Year 3- Wednesday and Thursday

Year 4- Wednesday (PE) and Thursday (swimming)

Year 5- Tuesday and Thursday

Year 6- Monday and Friday

Swimming is just for Year 4 children on Thursdays as part of their PE curriculum. More information will be sent out on this shortly.

We would like to give our thanks to Logan and Rowan's mum for her donations to the end of year celebrations for Year 6. It was very kind of you and the children really appreciated it.

Forest School Dates

Please remember to bring Forest School clothing on these days- welly boots, waterproofs and a hat and gloves if it is cold. They will go outside in all weather so be prepared!

Flu immunisations

Intrahealth will be coming to give the flu vaccine to the children on 13th October.

Consent forms will be sent out with your child from Monday. Please fill in the correct parts and return the form to the office or class teacher.

Please note, if your child is vegetarian, vegan, or has a halal diet, you will be able to select the injection rather than the nasal spray as it contains a small amount of gelatine and egg.

Spare forms will be available from the office.
