New Islington News – Edition 17

Celebrating our pupils:

Congratulations to the following pupils for demonstrating the Co-op Ways of Being – Jackson, Shrinika and Robert, Alma, Charlotte. Arush and Vivaan, Noah, Amelia and Lola, Mateo, Tara, Yasmin and Ava A

Music appreciation:

Native indigenous music traditions – focus on Chinese New Year as we enter the Year of the Rabbit

World Book Day:

With World Book Day fast approaching (Thursday 2nd March) it would be fantastic if there are any authors/illustrators in our school community who would like to come in and talk to the children about their job. Whether you are an author in your spare time or if it is your profession, we would love to meet you! Please email newislington@coopacademies.co.uk with your details.

Smart Watches:

Please do not let your child wear a smartwatch to school. They are a real distraction in lesson times, a cause of conflict at playtimes and there is a safeguarding risk as some can take photographs and videos. There is also the danger of them getting lost or damaged. Thank you for your support in this.

Free School Meals:

As hard times hit all families, we advise everyone to check if they are eligible for free school meals. Please click the link or contact the office for help: https://www.gov.uk/apply-free-school-meals
